Château Rocher Corbin

Corbin Rock Castle

Bordeaux

At Rocher Corbin, the vines grow in perfect harmony with nature. Organic farming, indigenous yeasts, for balanced and fruity wines! Estate anecdotes Today, Château Rocher Corbin has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage and the wines have no added sulfur. The small history of the estate In the 1880s, Charles Durand acquired the vines of these beautiful hillsides. Four generations succeeded each other throughout the 20th century, transmitting their know-how and precious knowledge about the terroir. In 1986, Philippe embarked on a viticulture focused on the land and the people who work it. While modernizing, Château Rocher Corbin is managed with respect for the environment: a philosophy that led to organic conversion in 2017. Since his beginnings, Philippe has sought to produce the best grapes to make the most beautiful wines. This creative approach is reflected in the different working methods, both in the vineyards and in the cellar... Recently, two single-varietal cuvées have been created, made with whole-bunch vinification. The pride of the estate At Rocher Corbin, the vines grow in perfect harmony with nature. Here, most of the rows are left grassed, the soil receives no chemical inputs, and treatments are very limited. Thus, at harvest time, healthy grapes are picked by hand, then vinified by gentle methods to produce a gourmet and fine wine. And above all, respectful of the environment and people! Located in Montagne, north of Saint-Emilion, on a clay-limestone soil, our family vineyard extends over 9.5 hectares. Planted on hillsides, the vines are on average 35 years old and some date back to the end of the 19th century. The grape varieties of the vineyard are the traditional grape varieties of the region: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard, which has long been cultivated with respect for the environment and people, is now in organic conversion: thoughtful soil work, no chemical fertilizers or inputs, limited yields (45 hl/ha), treatments based on sulfur and copper. At harvest, the ripe grapes are hand-picked, sorted, destemmed before maceration.
