Domaine Guy Bocard

Domaine Guy Bocard

Bourgogne

A family estate located on the Côte de Beaune. We cultivate 5.8 hectares of vines in organic conversion within the Meursault appellation. Anecdotes from the estate: René, the vineyard and cellar master, originally from the south of France, discovered the Burgundy vineyards during a harvest season at the estate. For the next 13 years, he participated in the life of the estate. In 2019, after several other experiences on the Côte de Beaune, he chose to return to Domaine Guy Bocard to produce his first vintage. Our wines rest in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. This aging takes place in the estate's historic cellars, excavated by Guy Bocard. A little history of the estate: The Bocard family's winemaking history began in the 1920s. Guy Bocard's grandfather established the estate during this period. With his wife, they cultivated 2 hectares of vines using a horse. Charles Bocard, the second of that name and Guy's father, took over the estate in 1950. At that time, he chose to replant the vineyards with Chardonnay. In 1959, with the advent of mechanization, he parted ways with the horse and bought his first straddle tractor. Guy's father then began bottling his own wine and selling directly to individuals. After a few years working with his father, Guy decided to create his own estate. He and his family moved to 4 Rue de Mazeray in 1987. He undertook extensive renovations, including the current cellars, which were dug by hand. Thanks to a significant number of customers, Guy continued the direct sales to individuals initiated by his father and expanded them in his small tasting room. In the 1990s, he decided to begin exporting. Following a slowdown in business, Guy chose to sell his estate to a French investor. The takeover was finalized at the end of 2018. Guy passed on his expertise for the 2019 vintage to the existing team at the estate, tasked with perpetuating its name. He definitively ceased his activities at the beginning of 2020. The pride of the estate: Domaine Guy Bocard has been located in the heart of Meursault for several generations. We cultivate 5.8 hectares of vines within the appellation, exclusively producing white wines from the Chardonnay and Aligoté grape varieties. We have been in the process of organic certification since 2019. In the vineyard, we work our soils in a way that expresses each terroir in its typicity, without altering its primary qualities. The harvest takes place at perfect ripeness to guarantee complex, full-bodied, and profound wines. The estate's philosophy has always been focused on traditional winemaking and aging methods. All our wines are vinified and then aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months, up to 24 months for our Premier Crus. We like to offer ready-to-drink vintages, which is why we have a wine library dating back to 2001!
