Le Rocher des Dames

The Ladies' Rock

Languedoc

Anecdotes from the Estate: The Bernard family has been cultivating Domaine du Rocher des Dames for many years… Four generations to be precise! On 10 hectares of sandy Miocene soil, this family works the vines to produce their Beaumes de Venise wines. A Little History of the Estate: In a human-scale cooperative located in the commune of Gigondas, we entrust our red and Muscat grapes to create our Domaine le Rocher des Dames wines. Passionate people allow us to realize our dream: from working the vines to tasting our wines with fellow wine lovers. My earliest memory related to wine dates back to Christmas meals. Coming from a winemaking family, the table was laden with bottles. Each of our parents would take turns getting up to explain how they made each wine using very technical terms. As children, we watched them with wide eyes full of admiration but also incomprehension! I remember people who were cheerful, happy, and proud. Their approach was very qualitative, aiming to produce the best possible wine, with marketing being secondary. What I regret today in our profession is that commerce has taken such a significant role in a winemaker's life. I consider myself very fortunate to produce Muscat de Beaumes de Venise; it's an exceptional vineyard with a thousand-year history that moves me deeply and speaks for itself. To this day, we are still trying to find traces of the Greeks and Romans who shaped the past of this land. The soil is quite unique, dating from the Miocene epoch on small, gravelly hillsides. But I prefer to let you discover all of this for yourselves, as everyone is welcome at Rocher des Dames! Come see the soil, touch the grapes, smell their aromas... you'll understand why the terroir of Beaumes de Venise is so precious! The pride of the estate: The Bernard family has been doing everything possible to enhance the family heritage for many years... five generations, to be precise! Domaine du Rocher des Dames produces its Beaumes de Venise appellation wines on 11 hectares of Miocene sandy soil. The harvest is done by hand and brings together about ten people each year.
