Niepoort

Niepoort

Douro

Niepoort is a renowned Portuguese wine house founded in 1842 by Fransiscus Marius van der Niepoort in Porto, in the heart of the Douro region. Now in its fifth generation of family leadership, it is known for its historic Port wines, as well as its high-quality dry wines produced in the Douro Valley and other Portuguese regions.

Over time, Niepoort has acquired several wine estates, including Quinta de Nápoles and Quinta do Carril in the Cima Corgo sub-region, to cultivate its own old vines, some of which are over 80 years old. The house thus produces a wide range of red, white, rosé, and fortified wines that reflect the diversity of the Douro's schist soils and the family's approach to winemaking.

Under the impetus of Dirk Niepoort, the house expanded its focus to modern dry wines, with cuvées that combine elegance, finesse, and tradition, while maintaining a reputation for excellence in Port wines, some of which are considered among the finest and most age-worthy.
