Our opinion on the vintage

A deep nose of black fruit, cocoa, and spices. A dense, structured, and vibrant palate. A persistent and powerful finish.

Domaine de l'Ecu

Loire | France

Domaine de l’Ecu is located in Le Landreau, in the Nantes region, at the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation. The estate was long managed by Guy Bossard, a pioneer of organic viticulture in the region, before being taken over by Fred and Claire Niger.

The vineyard spans approximately twenty hectares and has been farmed organically since 1972 and biodynamically since 1998. Viticultural and cellar practices are based on minimal intervention, fermentations with indigenous yeasts, and varied aging processes, sometimes in amphorae.

The estate is renowned for its single-vineyard cuvées that highlight the terroirs of Muscadet, particularly the granite and orthogneiss soils, as well as for its committed approach to promoting biodiversity.
