Château Lamothe
Built in the 16th century on the ruins of an ancient Merovingian fort, Château Lamothe is located in the heart of the village of Sauternes. A family-owned estate since 1961, the property spans 7.5 hectares of vineyards planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. The gravelly and clay soils, combined with a climate conducive to the development of noble rot, allow for the production of great sweet wines. The harvest generally begins at the end of September and is carried out in successive passes to select botrytized grapes at perfect ripeness. After more than two years of aging, the wines are distinguished by their fullness, balance, and length. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate continues this tradition of excellence with rigor and pride.
