Our opinion on the cuvée
Intense nose of dark fruits and spices. Generous, structured, and warm palate. Long and indulgent finish.
EARL Les Galets operates Domaine Les Aphillanthes, located in Travaillan (84850) in the Rhône Valley. The estate produces wines under the Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Rasteau, and other Côtes du Rhône Villages appellations, utilizing typical southern grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Viognier, Roussanne, and Clairette. The vines have been cultivated without herbicides or synthetic products since 2003, and viticulture has been certified organic and biodynamic since approximately 2007.
Winemaking involves hand-sorted grapes, fermented in vats, and then aged in concrete tanks and barrels, depending on the cuvée. The estate aims to extract the best from each parcel through extended vinifications, with maceration periods lasting up to 35 days. I have not found a precise creation date for the estate prior to this modern information.
