Domaine des Gravennes

Lou Pitchoun 2025

Côtes du Rhône | Red | 2025

Domaine des Gravennes, located in the heart of Provence's Drôme region, offers organic wines that highlight the stony and sandy terroir of the area. The white wines, a blend of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier, combine finesse and freshness, while the red wines, made from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, are refined, well-rounded, and structured. Luc and Rémi, fourth-generation winemakers, perpetuate a family tradition focused on respect for the terroir, conviviality, and elegance, with cuvées like Lou Pitchoun, which is fresh and surprising.

Our opinion on the cuvée

This brilliant ruby red wine offers an intense nose with red fruit aromas, evoking conviviality and simplicity. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant freshness, with notes of red fruits and a subtle spicy hint. Fine, supple tannins provide a velvety texture, perfect for pairing with white meats, mixed salads, or even ratatouille. A delightful wine to share with friends, ideal for all occasions.

Estate Anecdotes For Rémi and Luc, being winemakers means drawing the best from the land to evoke pleasure and conviviality. Luc's fondest wine memory is a tasting of an Échezeaux 2011 with his friend Vincent from Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur. The estate's little story: The etymology of the word Gravennes is 'Gar,' meaning 'stony place.' The white grape varieties (Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier), typical of the Rhône Valley, are planted on sandy soils that impart finesse and freshness to the white wines. It is on this unique terroir, composed of a mix of alluvial, sandy, and stony soils, that Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre vines produce fine, round, and structured red wines. For the past 3 years, Domaine des Gravennes has been led by its fourth generation of winemakers, Luc and Rémi. Luc is the most ... Read more
