Our opinion on the cuvée
Intense red color. The bouquet is slightly spicy and fruity, with notes of blueberries and blackberries. The finish is round and fruity, with well-integrated tannins.
Located in Roussillon, at the foot of the Quéribus cliff, Mas Janeil occupies a unique geological position, straddling a fault line that generates a great diversity of soils and subsoils. The vineyard extends over highly contrasting plots, blending granite scree, limestone, schistous areas, and particularly steep terrains, some of which are difficult to access.
The estate is managed by François Lurton, representing the fifth generation of a family of winemakers. Accustomed to working with very different vineyards worldwide, he approaches Mas Janeil with an open methodology, adapted to the specific constraints of the site. After a period of tenancy, he acquired the best plots of the estate, which now comprise approximately 30 hectares of vines, complemented by large areas of natural heathland preserved around the vineyard.
