Our opinion on the cuvée
In the glass, its luminous ruby hue evokes the delicacy of Burgundian Pinot Noir. The nose expresses itself with finesse, blending crisp cherry and fresh raspberry, underscored by subtle floral notes and a discreet spicy touch. On the palate, the wine glides gracefully: the attack is supple, the texture delicate, supported by silky tannins and a beautiful freshness. The whole finds its harmony in an elegant, persistent finish, where the fruit and the finesse of the Savigny-lès-Beaune terroir intertwine naturally. A wine of charm and precision, inviting both contemplation and pleasure.
Les Héritiers Saint-Genys embodies the unique journey of Patrice du Jeu, a former restaurateur who became a winemaker out of passion and conviction. In 2010, he took over a 12-hectare estate that had been abandoned between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, which he entirely restructured with exacting standards and humility. The estate cultivates a diverse range of plots, from Chassagne-Montrachet to Santenay, extending to the Côte Chalonnaise, with a notable exception: the Mercurey Premier Cru Clos Marcilly, a monopole vineyard. Each wine expresses its terroir, from the approachable Bourgogne Aligoté to the more distinctive Premier Crus. The cuvées, acclaimed by several guides, reflect the same rigorous approach for each appellation. Being a winemaker in Chassagne-Montrachet remains an honor for Patrice, one he strives to earn every day.
