Domaine des Fournelles

Beaujolais

Established in Saint-Lager since 1947, nestled in the heart of the Beaujolais crus, Domaine des Fournelles represents a family legacy spanning three generations. Here, there's no pursuit of expansion or an increase in appellations; the choice is clear and intentional. The estate focuses solely on two crus, Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly, to fully express their unique character.

These two appellations, though often confused, are rooted in distinctly different terroirs. The estate meticulously enhances their value through traditional Beaujolais vinification, a method perfectly suited to the black Gamay with white juice, the sole grape variety cultivated here. Planted on the hillsides of Brouilly mountain's southeast slope, the vines benefit from optimal sun exposure, imparting depth and aromatic richness to the wines. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand.

Taken over by Guillaume in 2015, the estate now spans a deliberately controlled, small acreage. His background is unconventional: hailing from the agricultural sector but having worked in a different field, he discovered the profession of winemaker later in life, almost by chance, before fully dedicating himself to it. What he values most is human connection: introducing his wines, sharing the stories of his terroirs, and bringing joy to those who taste them.

Domaine des Fournelles advocates a sincere and rigorous approach: cultivating a small number of hectares, but cultivating them exceptionally well. This reflects an artisanal vision of Beaujolais, precise, transparent, and deeply rooted in its two emblematic crus.
