Our opinion on the cuvée
This is somewhat the 'atypical' among our champagnes. Crafted using a technique rarely employed in Champagne, the grapes are destemmed and macerated for several days to achieve a color and aromas that make it a unique wine. This champagne is produced only in the best years. On the wine side, it presents a ruby color. Powerful aromas revealing notes of strawberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants.
In the Marne Valley, Olivier Marteaux crafts champagnes that defy standardized profiles. Here, the work is done on a human scale, with constant attention paid to the balance and personality of the wines. The desired style prioritizes the expression of the grape and terroir rather than mere effect or ostentation.
The calling of a winemaker became clear to him at a very young age. Olivier grew up in the vineyards, accompanying his parents and grandparents, then trained at the Avize wine school before gaining extensive experience in various estates. This journey now informs a thoughtful approach, rooted in tradition and observation.
