Our opinion on the vintage
This Saint-Estèphe reveals a deep purple color and a subtle nose blending woody notes, black and red fruits, and a touch of ripeness. On the palate, the oak predominates over the fruit, with fine tannins and well-balanced acidity, offering a flavorful and harmonious whole. Ideal to accompany flavorful red meats such as lamb, pigeon, or ostrich, this wine can be enjoyed until 2026.
L’Argilus du Roi is a human-sized property in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, established in 2004 and taken over in 2010 by Martial Mignet, a passionate viticulture enthusiast. The estate prioritizes a long-term vision, combining respect for viticultural tradition, the land, and the plant, while integrating modern winemaking methods.
With only 5 hectares of vines, L’Argilus du Roi is one of the smallest châteaux in the appellation and produces a limited number of bottles of its single grand cru. Sustainable farming practices are employed, and the selection process is highly selective, to preserve the wine's elegance and quality.
The plots rest on a typical Saint-Estèphe terroir, composed of gravel, pebbles, and sand, close to the Gironde estuary. The estate claims complete control over the production chain, guaranteeing a demanding wine, on par with its great Médoc neighbors.
