Château Vessière

South West

Located at the gateway to the Camargue, between Provence and Languedoc, Château Vessière is a family estate passed down through seven generations. Situated south of Nîmes, the vineyard spans approximately 65 hectares, cultivated organically, on a distinctive terroir of rolled pebbles, locally known as "gress" soils.

These soils, combined with a Mediterranean climate tempered by the Camargue influences, promote a gradual ripening of the grapes and help preserve the freshness of their balance. The vineyard benefits from excellent natural water regulation and abundant sunshine, while remaining well-ventilated, thereby limiting over-ripeness.

The modern history of the estate began in the late 1970s when Philippe Teulon undertook the bottling and marketing of the wines. In 2007, Vincent Teulon took over the estate after studying oenology and gaining several international experiences, particularly in California. With Lucie Teulon, he initiated a shift in practices towards more environmentally committed viticulture.

Today, vineyard management is based on organic farming, with particular attention paid to limiting inputs, soil health, and allowing the most direct expression of the grape possible. Some cuvées are vinified with very few, or even no added sulfites, in pursuit of purity and clarity of profiles.

In the cellar, winemaking prioritizes precision and restraint. Extractions are carefully controlled to preserve supple tannins and a balanced structure, while aging supports the wine without masking the terroir's identity. Château Vessière wines offer structured yet accessible Mediterranean profiles, where fruit, freshness, and digestibility are central.

The estate thus stands as a representative address for Costières de Nîmes, offering a coherent and contemporary interpretation of this transitional territory between the Rhône and the Mediterranean, true to its family heritage and natural environment.
