Coteaux du Giennois
The Coteaux-du-Giennois appellation is located in the Centre-Loire subregion. The white wines are made from the Sauvignon grape variety, while the reds and rosés are made from Gamay and Pinot Noir. The vineyard spans 200 hectares and is composed of two types of soil. In the north, the soils consist of clay, silica, and limestone. In the south, the soil is white with siliceous deposits. 8,100 hectoliters are produced each year. The wines exhibit very nuanced flavors depending on the soil and climate. Generally, the whites have a pale gold color, with aromas of fern, acacia, peach, and apricot. The whites are often dry and light. The reds have violet hues, with aromas of red berries and a lovely roundness on the palate. The rosés, meanwhile, are slightly peppery, lively, and elegant.
