Our opinion on the cuvée
The 2023 Brouilly vintage stands out with its vibrant and deep purplish-red hue. On the nose, aromas of redcurrant and raspberry emerge, heralding a fruity and approachable wine. The palate reveals a beautiful harmony, offering a balanced texture and subtle mineral notes. Perfect for pairing with a charcuterie or cheese board, this age-worthy wine will charm on any occasion.
Established in Saint-Lager since 1947, nestled in the heart of the Beaujolais crus, Domaine des Fournelles represents a family legacy spanning three generations. Here, there's no pursuit of expansion or an increase in appellations; the choice is clear and intentional. The estate focuses solely on two crus, Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly, to fully express their unique character.
These two appellations, though often confused, are rooted in distinctly different terroirs. The estate meticulously enhances their value through traditional Beaujolais vinification, a method perfectly suited to the black Gamay with white juice, the sole grape variety cultivated here. Planted on the hillsides of Brouilly mountain's southeast slope, the vines benefit from optimal sun exposure, imparting depth and aromatic richness to the wines. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand.
Taken over by Guillaume in 2015, the estate currently covers a small, deliberately managed area.
