Vignobles Pelvillain
Vignobles Pelvillain is a family-owned estate located in Albas, in the Lot valley, the historical heart of the Cahors vineyard. The family's viticultural origins date back to the 19th century, and the grandparents of the current generation passed down land and vines to their daughter in 1968, enabling the development of the family vineyard during the renaissance of Cahors wine. The subsequent generation, comprising brothers Arnaud, Didier, and Francis Pelvillain, took over after 1993, then acquired Domaine du Théron in Prayssac in 2013, bringing the total area to approximately 50 hectares. A négociant house was established in 2016, further complemented by the addition of Château Cayrouses in 2022.
The estate extends over several terroirs around Albas and Prayssac, where soils vary between limestone, clay, pebbles, and sand, offering rich diversity for the vines. Production is primarily focused on the Cahors appellation (Malbec or Côt grape variety) and wines under the IGP Côtes du Lot, including reds predominantly from Malbec, as well as some whites made from Gros Manseng or Chardonnay, depending on the cuvées. Vineyard management and winemaking aim to combine respect for the soil with grape quality, with certain viticultural practices conducted according to an environmentally friendly approach, certified High Environmental Value (HVE3) on specific plots.
Wines from Vignobles Pelvillain reflect the characteristics of the Lot terroirs, featuring structured and aromatic reds, and expressive whites. The estate boasts several modern cellars for winemaking and aging, as well as tasting and sales areas in Albas, accessible by appointment.
