Château des Annereaux

South West

In Lalande-de-Pomerol, Château des Annereaux embodies an almost instinctive connection to the vineyard. Dominique, and subsequently Benjamin Hessel, have always embraced this profound bond with the land, the terroir, and the region. The estate has been managed organically since 2007, with unwavering attention to the natural balance of the vineyard and the finesse of its wines.

The winemaking philosophy primarily seeks elegance and drinkability. Extractions are carefully controlled, and aging is deliberately restrained—with approximately 25% new oak—to preserve the fruit and mouthfeel. The wines present supple profiles with melted tannins, offering precise and subtly spiced aromatics. They are enjoyable young, while also possessing significant aging potential. This approach was notably recognized in 2018 when certain cuvées were listed in the Élysée Palace wine cellar.

The estate's history is both ancient and unique. A family property since 1390, Château des Annereaux owes a significant part of its renown to Caroline Ponsot, a prominent figure of the late 19th century. Her pioneering work against phylloxera, conducted directly in the vineyard, established the estate as a scientific and viticultural benchmark of its era.

Today, Benjamin Hessel continues the château's legacy with a strong agro-ecological dimension. Hedges, fruit trees, flowering fallows, and beehives shape the landscape and contribute to soil vitality. This holistic, patient, and coherent vision serves to produce distinguished, precise wines deeply rooted in Bordeaux's Right Bank.
