Domaine de la Dourbie

Dourbie Estate

Languedoc

Founded in 1781, Domaine de la Dourbie is located on the right bank of the Hérault, at the foot of the Causse du Larzac. The estate takes its name from the Dourbie, a local river that crosses the vineyard before joining the Hérault. This geographical location places the estate in a transitional context between Mediterranean influences and cooler climates linked to altitude.

The vineyard has been organically farmed since 2009 and is divided into two distinct areas. Approximately 20 hectares surround the main estate, while a second plot of about 12 hectares is located at nearly 300 meters above sea level in the Rouveyrolles valley. This sector, surrounded by garrigue, benefits from a more temperate microclimate, favoring progressive ripening and naturally cooler balances.

Work in both the vineyard and the winery is carried out entirely on site, with particular attention paid to manual harvesting and grape sorting. Vinifications aim to preserve the identity of the two terroirs, seeking a clear expression of fruit and a legibility of the soils, without artificiality.

Domaine de la Dourbie's wines reflect this dual origin, combining the generosity of Languedoc with a tension brought by altitude and the diversity of exposures. All the work offers a coherent and rooted interpretation of the Hérault valley, based on organic farming, mastery of winemaking, and the enhancement of complementary terroirs.
