Expert Opinion
This red wine has a deep color with violet hues. On the nose, intense aromas of violet give way to fresh notes of juicy red currant. On the palate, it offers a distinct freshness, with a hint of pepper and a slightly briny finish. Best enjoyed young, this wine pairs perfectly with tapas or cocktail hour snacks. Be sure to chill it slightly before serving to fully appreciate all its nuances.

Maison Ventenac

Maison Ventenac

Languedoc | France

Located within the Cabardès appellation area, about ten kilometers west of Carcassonne, Maison Ventenac is a family estate nestled against the foothills of the Montagne Noire. The vineyard spans approximately 135 hectares and is currently undergoing organic conversion, with particular attention paid to soil management and environmental preservation.

Taken over by Olivier and Stéphanie Ventenac, the estate strives to achieve a clear and direct expression of Cabardès grapes, a transitional region between Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. Winemaking aims to minimize artifice, favoring precise aging methods tailored to each cuvée's profile. Depending on the wine, vessels vary between tanks, large-capacity foudres, and amphorae, to refine textures without masking the fruit's expression.

Certain micro-cuvées, grouped under the Les Dissidents range, are produced in limited volumes and vinified with significant freedom in classification, when this helps preserve their identity. These wines are characterized by clean and direct profiles, built on precision rather than overt expression.

Maison Ventenac's entire approach aims to offer distinctive and coherent wines, true to their origin, with a controlled technical approach and a constant pursuit of clarity between grape variety, terroir, and vinification.
