Our opinion on the vintage
Domaine Bott-Geyl
Located in Beblenheim, Alsace, Domaine Bott-Geyl has been run by Jean-Christophe Bott since 1993. The estate now spans approximately 15 hectares across several communes, with a fragmented parcel of land including specific lieux-dits (named plots), a historic walled vineyard, and several Grand Crus, such as Schoenenbourg, Sonnenglanz, and Wineck-Schlossberg.
The vineyard has been managed organically since 2000, and biodynamically since 2002. Viticultural practices prioritize moderate yields, close attention to grape ripeness, and a precise understanding of the soils. Each plot is monitored individually to preserve its natural balance and expressive potential.
Winemaking is carried out with minimal intervention, featuring long fermentations, often with native yeasts, and patient aging tailored to each cuvée. The estate works with all Alsatian grape varieties, with a central focus on Riesling, but also Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. The desired balance favors tension, depth, and length on the palate rather than immediate impact.
