Certified Organic Wines
Organic wines are made from grapes grown according to the principles of organic farming, without pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic chemical fertilizers. This approach aims to preserve soil health, biodiversity, and the natural balance of the vineyard, while producing authentic and expressive wines.
Over the past decade or so, organic wines have been gaining ground in France, driven by a desire to consume more responsibly. Producing organic wine requires a strong commitment from the winemaker: more work in the vineyard, no synthetic products, and a heavy reliance on weather conditions. Certain regions, such as Languedoc-Roussillon and Bordeaux, are particularly well-suited to organic winemaking, but organic wines can now be found in all of France’s wine-growing regions.
Contrary to popular belief, organic wine does not correspond to a single style. This collection includes red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines with a wide variety of profiles: fruity, fresh, rich, mineral, or more structured. What they all have in common is viticulture guided by strict guidelines, with particular attention paid to the grapes.
What does the organic label mean for wine?
A certified organic wine guarantees:
- Grapes grown without synthetic chemicals.
- A reduction in the use of additives in the winery, along with practices that are more respectful of the wine.
- Greater transparency for consumers thanks to official certification.
The winemaker’s work remains central: the organic certification does not dictate a specific taste; rather, it provides a framework that allows the terroir and the winemaker’s expertise to shine through.
Why choose organic wine?
Choosing an organic wine means opting for a more responsible approach, while still enjoying a wide variety of styles. These wines are often appreciated for their freshness, aromatic purity, and ability to pair well with both everyday meals and special occasions.
At Les Grappes, our selection of organic wines showcases dedicated wineries for whom respect for life is inseparable from the quality of the wine.
